Harry and Voldemort - Very, very distant relatives.
Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort are very distantly related from many generations through the families of Ignotus Peverell and Salazar Slytherin.
Ron and Hermione - Soul mates.
Ron's Patronus was a Jack Russel Terrier which has been known to chase otters. Incidentally, Hermione's Patronus was an otter.
Dudley realizes his mistakes.
When the dementor attacked Harry and Dudley in Order of the Phoenix, Dudley saw a vision of himself and just how rotten he was.

To connect more with their characters, the director asked Dan, Emma and Rupert to write essay's on their characters in the first person. Emma wrote a 16-page essay, Daniel wrote a 1-page one and Rupert never even gave it in.
